The Atlanta Hawks concluded a busy trade deadline day by acquiring Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich. Atlanta sent a second round pick to the Bulls for Hinrich.
The Hawks had sent guard Shelvin Mack to the Utah Jazz earlier in the day for a second round draft choice. I haven’t gotten confirmation whether the second rounder Atlanta sent to the Bulls was the one they acquired in the Mack deal.
These deals don’t move the needle much, but Hinrich does give the Hawks much needed veteran leadership. He played with Atlanta during the 2010-11 and 2011-2012 seasons. So he shouldn’t have any problem finding an apartment or a place to get a drink for the next few months.
In addition to veteran leadership, Hinrich gives the Hawks a boost in 3-point shooting. He is knocking ’em down at a 41.1% clip this season and is a career 37.6% 3-point shooter.
